SHOP RULES / FAQ

How old do I need to be to get a tattoo?

The minimum age at our studio is 18 years old. No exceptions. So please bring a valid ID!

With this strict regulation we also tend to protect minors of getting a tattoo they will eventually regret.

Does it hurt?

Yes! But everyone experiences it in a different way. Some places hurt more then other places and some even say they are addicted to the pain!

How do I book an appointment?

Fill in the contact form or send us a mail (info@inkdistrict.nl) with a detailed description of your preferred design, style, placement on body and size. You can also add some inspiration pictures (max 5). We will then get back to you as soon as possible.

Please note we don’t copy existing tattoos or designs. The tattooist will make a new design based on the sent inspiration. For text tattoos take a look on www.dafont.com and select your font, this will save a lot of time. For tattoos in foreign languages, please carefully check spelling and meaning as we are no translators!

You are also welcome to come into the shop and talk to whoever is available at that moment. We will gladly inform you where needed!

How should I come to the studio?

Please make sure you are welrested and have had a meal before your appointment. We recommend coming by yourself, our waiting room is primarily reserved for waiting customers and not for extra’s.

Please respect our studio and our artists, we always will treat everyone with the utmost respect and expect the same back. We will take our time to make your tattoo perfect, please trust the expertise of the artist and always listen to our advise. Please, also don’t make plans right after your session. We, like you, want the best quality, so don’t set any timelimits for your artist as this is not a comfortable work setting. Also know, that at all times we have someone shooting pictures and videos of the artists in the studio.

Do I need to pay a deposit for an appointment?

Yes. For every appointment we ask for a deposit of 50 EUR for the smaller to medium projects or 100 EUR for the larger projects, which can be paid at the shop or transferred through our bank. Deposits are applied to the final price of your tattoo and should be made within 48 hours of making the appointment!

Till a week up to your appointment cancellations and changes are still possible without costs. Within a week of your appointment deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable!

Deposits done for guest artists are non-refundable!

How can I make an appointment with a guest artist?

On our social media we advertise when and which guest artists will arrive. We always mention contact details so guest artists can be contacted directly regarding project and price.

Are touch-ups included?

We have several fine line specialists in our team. If you get a fine line design done it is possible that some lines become lighter than others after a few weeks. This is no problem, just send us a message within 6 months and we can arrange an appointment for a touch-up. This is included in the price!

This is strictly if you got a tattoo done by one of our current regular artists. We will not touch-up any work of our former or guest artists!

What are your prices?

This depends on the artist but our minimum shop price is 100 EUR. Final price depends on size, detail of the design, location on the body and finally which artist.

If we have all information we can always give you a price estimate!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, pin, credit cards and even bitcoins. Our guest artists only accept cash!

Can I bring someone with me to the appointment?

Of course you can come with someone but we only have very limited sitting space at the front of the shop. The back of the shop is prohibited for any family or friends you bring along. Only clients who are getting tattooed are allowed in the tattoo area!

We also really really love kids! But due to hygiene and concentration reasons we do not think a tattooshop is the right place for them to hang out!

Any tips before getting a tattoo?

We recommend that you have a good night’s rest, have a good meal and stay hydrated before your appointment. We can only work with you if you are 100% sober, being under the influence of alcohol or any drugs will get you removed from the shop. Also please do not take any painkillers as this will dilute your blood and possibly affect your tattoo and the healing process.

If you have a larger project or get a tattoo on a sensitive spot make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing and we would not advise wearing any white as black ink can cause an ugly stain!

Also keep in mind that taking care of your tattoo is a very responsible job. We do not advise swimming, exposing your tattoo to sun or exercising the weeks after!

How do I take care of my tattoo?

Aftercare instructions

A new tattoo is similar to an abrasion/wound. It takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks for the wound and the skin around it to be healed.

If the tattoo is covered with a sterile compression or household foil, you can remove this after 3 to 5 hours. If your tattoo is covered with a second skin plaster this can be taken off after 24 hours, preferably under the shower.

Treat the uncovered tattoo as follows:

– Wash the tattoo twice a day with a mild fragrance free soap;

– After washing, pat it dry with single use paper towels or a clean towel;

– Apply with a thin layer of a cream you have received from the tattooist or which he or she has recommended. For larger tattoos we advise application longer then the smaller tattoos.

During the healing process:

– Touch the tattoo as little as possible (wash your hands first before you take care of the wound);

– Do not scratch the tattoo;

– Do not cover the tattoo with tight or dirty clothes;

– Do not cover the tattoo with bandages or foil;

– Avoid baths, swimming pools, sea water, saunas and steam baths for entire healing process.

– Do not expose the tattoo to sunlight or solarium during healing process.

After healing, the tattooed skin remains very sensitive to sunlight. Always use sunscreen (highest factor).

Caution: Contact your doctor if extreme redness, swelling, bleeding, wound fluid, color change or chronic pain occurs.

Can I get a bit of ink tattooed to check if I’m allergic?

No, we don’t test ink on people. Please check this with your GP or dermatologist. This is the safest way. If you have other allergies or sensitive skin carefully research if getting a tattoo will not trigger a reaction for you. Always let us know if you have any allergies or a skin condition!

If you have pain or your skin reacts to the ink we always advise contacting your doctor!

What precautions will you be taking with the corona virus?

We have made some alterations in the studio to make sure it is a safe and 1.5m proof environmont. Everyday we are constantly monitoring the health of all our employees and customers and have created some extra shop guidelines. Please for your own safety read carefully and abide by these extra rules.
